| Refresco Holding B.V. acquires Poland's Kentpol - Press Release 5 February 2007 Refresco Holding B.V., a major European manufacturer of fruit and soft drinks, today
announced the acquisition of 100% of the shares of Kentpol, a Polish soft drinks and
mineral water company based near Krakow, Poland.
This is the first acquisition by Refresco Holding B.V. in Eastern Europe and represents an
exciting new growth market for the Refresco Group.
The Refresco Group is majority owned by a consortium of investors led by FL Group, a
leading Icelandic investment company.
Commenting on the acquisition Mr. Frans Barel, CEO of Refresco Group said: "As part of
Refresco Group's overall buy and build growth strategy, this deal represents a significant
step forward for the company. It provides the group with a presence in Poland and Eastern
Europe, a developing market that has strong growth prospects."Kentpol, a Polish soft drinks and mineral water company, operates from Kety and Slemien.
The company produces carbonated drinks, soft drinks in PET bottles as well as mineral water
of a high quality from their own source. Products are mainly produced under a private label
for the Polish market. The turnover of Kentpol is ? 34 million. Kentpol will continue to
produce under its own name and will be part of the new entity "Refresco Poland".
The Refresco Group is a major European manufacturer of fruit juice and soft drinks. Formed
in 1999 from the split off of Menken Drinks B.V. and Refresco de Sur Europa S.A. from the
Dutch dairy group Campina, the Group now has a total of 11 production sites across The
Netherlands, Germany, France, Spain and Finland.
The Refresco Group has a total of 1250 employees and realised a turnover of ? 660 million in
2006. The focus of the group is on the fruit juice and (soft) drinks market, mainly for the
production of private labels for its retail clients as well as production under fancy labels and
co-packing for A-brand partners. |
